Dragon*Con 2003 - Fan Audio Panel
Atlanta, Georgia, USA
Sunday, August 31, 2003

Every so often, Star Wars Fanworks will be bringing you special features on fan audio genre happenings that strike a chord among fan audio enthusiasts. Allow us to present the first.

A milestone in fan audio was reached on August 31, 2003 at Dragon*Con in Atlanta. That was the date of fan audio's first panel as a solo genre at the convention, marking a change from the mindset of fan audio as a subgenre of fan films.

The panel was arranged by Pamela Kinney, Linda Lyons, and Keith Abbott as a means of promoting Rise of Nobility, but it grew to be a panel for the genre itself. Panelists included, from left to right: Shawn Johnston; Linda Lyons; Pamela Kinney; Michael Smith; and Nathan Butler.

Thanks to a camera brought by Michael Smith and operated by Bill Truesdale, we are able to bring you full coverage of the first-ever Star Wars fan audio panel, courtesy of Fanworks and Sokar's Studio (Butler and Smith, respectively, seen at right).

Fans of fan audio, particularly those able to attend the panel, should give a big round of appreciative applause to the RON representatives and the team behind the Star Wars track for Dragon*Con (Matters of the Force). Without the merging of these two groups, the panel would not have been possible.

Curious? Good! You can find the audio version of the panel for download right here (with an introduction by Butler), plus three different quality versions of the video version of the panel, crafted by Michael Smith.
