Smuggler's Run
A Review by Teague "Fig" Chrystie

Smuggler's Run is a short journey documenting the retrieval of the Death Star plans to be given to Leia on the Tantive IV at the beginning of A New Hope. Two believable characters, Dax (pardon my Trekkie, but ain't that a ST name?) and Bru, lead us to a forest planet to meet with an ex-Imp . . . but they encounter an old enemy while they're there.

This is very good for a ten-minute story, I was intrigued the whole way through as it was unvieled how important this little venture was to the timeline. Without this little trip by these bounty hunters, we wouldn't have ANH as we know it.

Overall, the acting was pretty good. Toward the end, after they meet up with Dantoris, Dax is forced and quiet . . . It sounds like he recorded all the yelling at midnight, trying not to wake his neighbors up (something like that), which is cool. I'm no stranger to voice chat and having to keep quiet . . . but it was definitetly noticible to me. Another thing that got my attention (pardon how I listen to these intellectually; I read between the lines . . . again, my apologies) was all the forest sounds after they land, though they're allegedly in a clearing. (What? I notice these things.)

Something I really got a little chuckle out of was the delivery of the line "Death Star?" I don't recall the character, but after hearing the name of the battle station the reaction says it all. "The Empire could name this thing anything they damn well wanted, and they called it the Death Star? What the hell?" Good stuff there. One more little nitpick on the effects editing: I can tell our protagonist heroes are running away when Dantoris shows up and kills our Impy, but . . . no footsteps.

The only thing else that got my attention negatively was the last line, which seemes to patronize the audience (being me, for those playing the home game).

Good job to the creator and all involved. I enjoyed this over-par little short drama. For shizzle.
