Anthology IV: Addiction Opening in a court of inquiry, Channus Brightstormer is being reviewed for an addiction to the drug called "Megz," brought on by a war injury. The first witness is his brother, Tal. Flashbacks show that Channus was decent being, who quickly learned how to work the system to avoid physicals and how to intimidate fellow pilots into not talking. The incident bringing the inquiry about began when a surprise Imperial attack left Channus in a jittery state. He then popped (injected) some Megz. This led to a tragic series of events--a seizure that sent him careening into his wingman. His wingman crashed into a residential area; Channus plowed into the school tower with tragic results. All of this raises the question: "Is drug addiction a victimless crime?" On the technical side, this is a good recording--clean, crisp and a bit Spartan. The voice actors do a reasonably good job voicing their characters. The story itself is one worth pondering. The tragedy brought about by one man's failings is sobering in an audio drama. In real life, it can be heartbreaking. This audio drama works well as a type of public service announcement regarding the evils of addiction. Anthology IV: Addiction |
