Resurrection
A Review by Jay Mustered

This audio drama is based on the Ron Marz story from the comic book Star Wars Tales #9 and runs about 16.5 minutes. The story is simple: Vader versus Maul in a death match.

The voice acting is pretty good; none of the established continuity characters is perfect, but each actor does a good enough job to not pull you out of the drama. The secondary characters do a fair job. The sound effects and music are also pretty good. They also are very faithful to the comic that is the drama's source material.

I suppose that the stormtroopers are supposed to have a muffled sound. However, the shuttle pilot is very hard to understand. The main complaint that I have with this audio drama is that for all the sturm and drang we hear, lightsaber sounds dominate for the middle third of the production, but we have no idea what is going on, during what should be the fight of the century. We have no idea who is winning, losing, etc.. Now, there is some commentary by Vader, Maul, and the acolytes (mainly of the "they seem evenly matched" variety). Now, in the comic, you can see what's going on. Here you can't, and all you are left with is lightsaber noise.

This drama is entertaining, and the payoff to the fight is well worth your time. This drama should be listened to and emulated by every new fan audio creator who is planning to use established characters; not perfect, but good.
