Trek Wars: The Furry Conflict, Part I
A Review by Jay Mustered

An Infinities story, wherein the Rebellion is defeated at Endor, Trek Wars is a Star Wars / Star Trek crossover. A tongue-in-cheek "what if" story, this episode does what most first episodes do: set up the plot, the groups, and interactions.

The plot synopsis would have to be: With the Imperials bearing down on the Rebels, Professor Sunrider tests his (large plot) device to open another dimension. Meanwhile, in another dimension, Federation Captain Xavier of the USS Felix is ecstatic to be on an exploration mission in deep space and testing his new transwarp drive. Somehow during Sundrider's test, the Imperials are affected, and then we end the episode.

This audio drama has some of the best technical work that I've heard on a fan audio project. The actors' voices and sound effects are clean and crisp; also the project takes advantage of the stereo effects available on several occasions.

The original score incorporates both Star Wars and Star Trek musical elements effectively. The voice acting is all over the place: some very amusing imitations, coupled with normal voices, but all do a good job with their lines. The writer and director did a good job keeping each universe's technospeak in their respective places. For me, the comedy was of the grin and chuckle variety, no gut-busting routines.

The one negative I have with the project is the somewhat ambiguous ending; I thought it worked better as scripted in the fan fiction.

That one minor quibble aside, I would recommend that anyone who is a fan of both franchises, and has the ability to laugh at them, should give this fan audio drama a try.
