Expanded, Explained, and Sometimes Extraordinary
Star Wars Fanworks Audio Feed Launched We at Star Wars Fanworks are happy to announce that we have now launched a brand new way to get your fix of Star Wars fan audio materials from StarWarsFanworks.com. For the first time since the site's launch in September 2003, we have now developed a new Star Wars Fanworks RSS feed ("podcast feed") to service the Star Wars fan audio genre. While many Star Wars fan audio creators have utilized podcast feeds for their own productions (since Rich Sigfrit became the first of us to dip his foot into the pool years ago), there has never been a unified feed for projects that either did not have their own feed, were released before such feeds existed, or simply wanted another venue of release outside of their own feeds. Beginning with a brief text welcome message from Nathan P. Butler, dated January 12, 2008, Fanworks will now maintain the Star Wars Fanworks Audio Feed through our feed's blog page at StarWarsFanworks.Libsyn.com. By entering the appropriate URL (http://starwarsfanworks.libsyn.com/rss) into your podcatching software, you will be able to automatically download new and classic Star Wars fan audio content from Fanworks. This month, we begin with the first-ever podcast feed release of the original Star Wars fan audio drama, Second Strike. At present, all three acts of the audio drama are available for download directly through the feed, as is the classic Resurrection audio drama. It is our intention to release up to 250 MB of Star Wars fan audio material through the feed each month, acting as a massive, easily downloadable archive of the genre. To download individual productions, please continue to utilize their various feeds. As we begin speaking with more creative teams, we will slowly begin bringing those materials over into the Star Wars Fanworks Audio Feed for those who are interested in coming aboard. For now, it is our intention to begin with the earliest fan audio dramas and focus predominantly on audio dramas and parodies through the feed for the next couple of months, so as to introduce such productions to those out there who might have found Star Wars podcasts (radio shows) through podcasting before, but have not yet discovered the joys of Star Wars fan audio dramas and parodies. The best thing about this new feed is simple: the materials from the feed will not be pruned on a regular basis. As we release fan audio materials into the feed, they will continue to be archived via Libsyn, allowing new listeners to jump into the genre at any time. So, take a moment to check out (and even subscribe to) the Star Wars Fanworks Audio Feed, as we take a moment to thank Things Are Looking Up host Jim Perry for his great suggestion that set this new venture in motion. Things are heating up behind the scenes at Fanworks with more positive changes to come. Stay tuned. Star Wars Fanworks Audio Feed (starwarsfanworks.libsyn.com) |
