Expanded, Explained, and Sometimes Extraordinary
ConCarolinas 2009 Lineup Takes Shape It seems like only yesterday that we were celebrating the Fifth Anniversary of the first online Star Wars fan audio drama (Second Strike, 2002, and now getting replay via The Adventures of Indiana Jim), the Fifth Anniversary of Star Wars Fanworks (founded September 1, 2003), or some other fan audio anniversary. Now, we are gearing up for the Fifth Anniversary of Star Wars Fanworks' first appearance at its "home con," ConCarolinas in Charlotte, North Carolina (attended by Fanworks representatives in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007, but not 2008). After a brief absence from ConCarolinas 2008, we are happy to announce that ConCarolinas 2009 (May 29 - 31) looks like it will be the best convention thus far in terms of Fanworks representation. This year's ConCarolinas will feature a larger guest roster than previous years, and the convention has grown enough to necessitate a new location in Charlotte. (See the site below for details.) As far as Fanworks, this year will see the return of Nathan P. Butler (2004 - 2007) and Jim Perry (2008), along with the return of Rich Sigfrit (2004 - 2008), who was an early force in fan audio, but has since moved on to other projects. This year will also see three new faces from Fanworks: Joe Harrison; Andrew Gilbertson; and "Silas Carder" (who just might actually let us start using her real name now that she, the sister of Joe, is married to Andrew!). we are expecting quite a bit of coverage this year, including material for The Butlerniverse, The Adventures of Indiana Jim, ALTA Radio, and possibly even Spinoff or Tosche Station eXM. At the moment, panel descriptions are still forthcoming, but at least one dedicated Star Wars panel is planned and will be recorded for your listening pleasure later. We also fully expect quite a bit of unoffical material to be created during the con, including such possible nuggets as a new "state of fan audio" discussion and some form of coverage of the long-awaited Star Wars Trivial Pursuit smackdown between these Star Wars fans. For more information, see the link below. We would love to see you there! ConCarolinas 2009 |
