TheForce.Net to Reverse Fan Film/Audio Split

Citing the recent downturn in fan participation in such fan production genres as fan films and fan audio, TheForce.Net is taking three of their message boards (fan films, fan audio, and SciFi3D) and merging them into one new message board.

As early fan audio genre fans may remember, TFN initially separated fan audio onto its own board at the request of a small faction of that early fan audio community, against the wishes of other members of that same early community, but in accordance with the wishes of much of the fan film community, which felt that the new fan audio genre was not a proper topic for discussion on a fan films message board. It was the separation from the mainstream fan film community (characterized by that board split and the choice by TFN not to host fan audio, until years later when they began the now-defunct TFN Podcast and current Force-Cast), coupled with the reorganization of StarWarz.com when changing webhosts in 2003, which gave rise to the creation of Star Wars Fanworks and its forum at GalacticSenate.com.

It will be interesting to see whether this change will mark any significant changes for the current fan audio community, which, at present, does not regularly participate on the current TFN fan audio message board.
