Expanded, Explained, and Sometimes Extraordinary
September Releases Begin Today marks the second anniversary of Star Wars Fanworks, the second anniversary of Requiem of the Outcast, and the first anniversary of Star Wars and Beyond With this being a big month for Fanworks, it seems only natural that it would turn out to also be a big month for fan audio releases. Here's the rundown on today's new releases: First, ChronoRadio, the show whose website eventually evolved into Fanworks, returns today with a new Interview Edition with Star Wars author Michael Stackpole. Second, Star Wars and Beyond, originally hosted by Fanworks, returns with its seventh regular episode, featuring interviews with the creators of Star Wars: The Musical and Star Wars FM, plus a look behind the scenes of a Star Trek tale with Steve Mollmann. Third, Star Wars FM, a relative newcomer to Fanworks, returns with a double-shot today (part of a series of three episodes this month). These new episodes are Kissing a Wookiee, Parts 1 and 2, featuring a reviews of The Empire Strikes Back, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and The Rebellion is Evil. (SWFM will return September 15 with a film commentary episode for the movie Batman Forever.) Fourth, Fan Audio Made Easy returns with its third lesson, this time entitled Credit Where Due, dealing with how to sort out duties into workable end credits for a fan-made audio production. (FAME will return again on September 15 with FAME #4, featuring the first part of the 6-part Storytelling tutorial that had previously aired on ChronoRadio in 2004.) Fifth, the TFN Podcast has returned (actually yesterday) with a new episode featuring their review of A New Hope. (This is the seventh new TFNP release since August 1.) Sixth, Other Voices, the Fanworks and Rayzur's Edge Audio experiment that has gone totally awry, concludes today with its second (and final) episode, featuring segments by Brooks Child and the Byrnes (Suzanne and her son Bradley), plus a message to listeners from series creator Nathan Butler. This episode is hosted by Michael Galasso, and it has actually changed since the last "bad news" article posted on Fanworks, as Michael Sheridan's segment will not appear. (Other Voices has now been placed under "Ended Radio Shows" on the Radio Shows area main page.) Finally, Allen Singer's Adventures of the Galactic Star Force Power Squad returns with a brand new tale, appropriately entitled The New Adventures of the Galactic Star Force Power Squad (notice the "New" in there). This marks the first new parody release since the announcement of Tatooine TV's demise. Hopefully, Galactic and its ongoing brothers, Lost Cause and the Holo-Advertisement series, can help keep the fan audio parody genre afloat. Also, a new edition of The Star Wars Timeline Gold, which is hosted here at Fanworks, has also just been released, continuing to make the SWT-G the most accurate and comprehensive Star Wars chronology availalbe anywhere.
